Every Sunday morning on the way to church, Tom and I stop and fuel up with our drink of choice that must get us through the next 5 hours of Sears Hardware or Calvary Kids respectively. This requires 2 stops – ALWAYS. One at Dunkin Dounts and one in the Starbucks drive-thru. His order: a large DD coffee w/cream and sugar. Mine: Fav Starbucks drink rotating monthly as to not be too predictible. And on a rough day - Double Shot. It has been almost two years now since Starbucks opened here in town and this issue has yet to be resolved. No hard feelings - it’s just the way it is. What’s your drink of choice before starting your day?

18 Hours of Summer Left….

Tomorrow is the first day of school here in Lemont for elementary & middle school. Let’s just say that by this time of the summer, my mom was yelling “I can’t wait until school starts!” in thirty minute intervals. But for kids – summer dies the night before school starts. So, whatever you’re doing right now – it can wait. Run as fast as you can with kid in hand and go have fun! Yes, life will go on and ice cream will still exist tomorrow. But it will never taste as good as it does on the last day of summer…..

Last week we held training meetings for all of our Sunday volunteers here at Calvary Kids. We had a great time getting together to refresh and brainstorm for the upcoming school year. There was fried chicken and some amazing pasta salad and cake courtesy of Debbie Biegler, our nursery coordinator. Right about now you’re wishing you had been there. Lucky for you, the only secret is the Coronal’s fried chicken recipe. Be watching for everything you missed (sans the fried chicken.) Coming soon…

A BIG Job To Do…

This begins my attempt to connect with all of you in the middle of your crazy lives – running to work, getting the kids to soccer, not to mention cooking something edible for dinner (Hello takeout!) Honestly, as much as I have to share with each of you – I would love to know what you’re thinking too. So here it is: a conversation open to parents and volunteers alike. ‘Cause we all need each other to accomplish a BIG job – raising our kids to know and love Jesus.
